Everything you need to know about Disney Lorcana TCG — from finding events to game rules, tournament procedures, and set rotation.
LoreGuide is a free community tool for Disney Lorcana TCG players. It aggregates official event data from the Ravensburger PlayHub API so you can browse tournaments worldwide, find events near you, track your schedule, and discover Discord communities — all in one place.
Events are automatically synced from the official Ravensburger Play Hub (tcg.ravensburgerplay.com) every day. This is the same platform that game stores use to create and manage sanctioned events. LoreGuide does not create or modify event listings — we only display what Ravensburger publishes.
The sync runs daily via a scheduled job. New events typically appear within 24 hours of being published on the PlayHub. During busy seasons (new set release windows) the sync may run more frequently.
No. LoreGuide is an independent fan-made community tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Ravensburger or Disney. Disney Lorcana is a trademark of Disney, operated by Ravensburger.
Go to Locals Near Me and allow location access — LoreGuide will show you upcoming events within your chosen distance radius, sorted by proximity. Alternatively, use the Events page and filter by your country.
This shows the current registration count vs. the event capacity taken directly from the PlayHub. If it reads 16/16, the event is likely full — visit the official event page to join a waitlist or check for updates.
Most events are open to all players. Set Championships require you to register in advance via the Ravensburger Play Hub. Some events may charge an entry fee. Always click 'Official event page' for full details before travelling.
This is a personal planning feature for LoreGuide members. It adds the event to your Agenda so you can see all your planned events in one place. It does not register you with the venue — you still need to sign up via the Ravensburger Play Hub.
The Agenda shows a calendar view of all upcoming Set Championship windows. You can mark events you plan to attend and get a clear picture of the competitive season ahead.
A casual Sealed event held at a new set's launch — letting you play with the cards before they hit retail. You purchase a prerelease box containing 6 booster packs, a random promo card (1 of 6), a random postcard (1 of 3), 4 dice, a deck box, and a rules sheet. Build a 40+ card deck from your packs on the spot and play. No existing collection needed, no competitive pressure — perfect for getting your hands on new cards first.
Set Championships are official Ravensburger Competitive level events that mark the end of a set's season — held at local game stores in the weeks before the next set releases. Players bring their own Core Constructed decks, compete in Swiss rounds with a Top Cut for larger events, and earn exclusive promo cards and a Champion Playmat. All participants receive a non-foil promo (while supplies last). Deck lists are required.
The Disney Lorcana Challenge is the highest tier of open Premier Play tournament run by Ravensburger. These large-scale events draw hundreds to thousands of players at major convention centres and gaming venues. Season 1 included Milwaukee (2,000+ players) in North America and Bologna and Lille in Europe. Top finishers earn exclusive promo cards and qualify for the World Championship.
The pinnacle of Disney Lorcana organised play. The World Championship is invitation-only — players qualify through the Challenge Series and other Premier Play pathways. Full Play Correction Guidelines apply; broadcast coverage is expected.
Pack Rush is a casual Limited format. You receive 2 sealed booster packs, shuffle them together to form a 24-card deck, and play immediately — no deckbuilding, no colour restrictions, no copy limits. It's a great intro-to-draft experience and often run as a side event.
Draft events give each player 4 booster packs. Players open one pack, pick a card, and pass the rest around the table. After drafting, you build a 40-card minimum deck from your picked cards. Draft pods are typically 8 players; packs pass left, right, left.
Each player receives 6 unopened booster packs, opens them, and builds the best 40-card deck they can from those cards only. No ink colour restrictions or copy limits apply in Sealed.
CCQ stands for Challenge Championship Qualifier. These are Premier Play events typically run by third-party event organizers (not local game stores) at larger gaming conventions and card events — such as CardCon in the Netherlands or Gen Con in Indianapolis. CCQs offer players a direct qualification path into the Disney Lorcana Challenge Series outside of the normal Set Championship circuit.
Lorcana has three levels: Casual (Prereleases, weekly play — relaxed rules, judges may play), Competitive (Set Championships — stricter enforcement, deck registration required, judges cannot play), and Premier Play (Challenge Series, Worlds — strictest rules, Play Correction Guidelines apply).
A Lore Guide is the official Disney Lorcana title for a tournament judge. The Head Lore Guide is the final authority on all rules questions at an event. Floor Lore Guides assist players and answer questions but may not give strategic advice. At Competitive and Premier level, Lore Guides are not allowed to play in the event.
Deck registration is required at Competitive and Premier Play level (Set Championships and above). You submit your deck list via the Ravensburger Play Hub or a physical sheet provided by the TO. Your physical deck must match the submitted list exactly.
Rounds are determined by player count. 8 players = 3 Swiss rounds (no Top Cut); 9–16 = 4 rounds + Top 4; 17–32 = 5 rounds + Top 8; 33–64 = 6 rounds + Top 8; 65–128 = 7 rounds + Top 8; 129–226 = 8 rounds + Top 8; 227+ = 9 rounds + Top 8.
Swiss rounds at Set Championships last 60 minutes. When time is called, the active player finishes their current turn (Turn 0), then 5 additional full turns are played. If no winner after 5 turns, the match result goes to whoever won more games (or is a draw if tied). Top Cut rounds are Best-of-3; some events run Top Cut untimed (70-minute max recommended).
No. Cash prizes are explicitly forbidden at all official Disney Lorcana TCG events. Stores may supplement the official OP kit with additional prizes (product, store credit, etc.) but never cash.
Opaque card sleeves (all cards in the deck must use identical, non-marked sleeves). Playmats are allowed. Dice, tokens, lore trackers, and the official companion app are all permitted. Electronic devices may be used for lore tracking but must not provide strategic assistance.
Be the first player to collect 20 lore. You gain lore by sending your characters on quests (exerting them). You can also win if your opponent runs out of cards and ends their turn with an empty deck.
A Lorcana deck requires a minimum of 60 cards, can use at most 2 ink colours, and may include at most 4 copies of any single card (identified by its full name including version/subtitle like 'Ariel – Spectacular Singer'). There is no maximum deck size as long as you can shuffle it unassisted.
Amber (support, healing), Amethyst (songs, control, discard), Emerald (hand tricks, card manipulation), Ruby (aggression, challenge synergies), Sapphire (card advantage, draw), and Steel (tanky characters, items, defense). Most decks combine two colours for synergy.
Characters (the main units — they quest, challenge, and use abilities), Actions (one-time effects; Songs are a subtype that characters can sing for free), Items (persistent artifacts in play), and Locations (places characters can move to for stat bonuses and extra lore per turn).
When a character enters play they are 'drying' and cannot quest, challenge, or use exert-cost abilities until they have been in play since the start of your next turn (they become 'dry'). The keyword Rush bypasses this for challenging only.
Exert a dry character during your Main Phase to quest. You immediately gain lore equal to that character's Lore value (the card's {L} stat). A character with {L} = 2 gives you 2 lore per quest. Questing is the primary way to reach 20 lore.
Declare a dry character to challenge an opposing ready (non-exerted) character. Both characters deal their Strength to each other as damage simultaneously. If damage equals or exceeds a character's Willpower, that character is banished to the discard pile. Characters with Evasive can only be challenged by characters that also have Evasive (or Alert).
Once per turn during your Main Phase, you may place one inkable card from your hand face-down into your inkwell. Each card in the inkwell counts as 1 ink (resource). Exert (tap) ink cards to pay for playing cards or abilities. Inkwell cards refresh at the start of each turn.
While a Bodyguard character is exerted, opposing characters cannot challenge your other characters — they must challenge the Bodyguard instead. A powerful defensive keyword for protecting your key characters.
Only characters with Evasive (or the Alert keyword) can challenge an Evasive character. This makes Evasive characters excellent for questing safely — opponents can't easily remove them with a challenge.
A character with Rush can challenge the turn it's played — it ignores the drying restriction for challenging only. Rush characters cannot quest on the turn they enter play.
Shift N {I} lets you pay a reduced cost to play this character on top of one of your characters that shares the same first name. The character underneath is not banished — they're now in a stack. You pay N ink instead of the card's normal cost.
Opponents cannot choose a Ward character except to challenge. Ward characters are immune to targeted action cards and abilities but can still be challenged in combat.
This character gets +N Strength while they are the attacker in a challenge. It does not boost their Strength when being challenged.
Damage dealt to this character is reduced by N. A Resist +2 character with 3 Willpower effectively needs 5 Strength damage to be banished.
Singer N lets a character count as cost N when exerting to sing a Song. A character with Singer 5 can exert to sing any Song with a cost of 5 or less for free (alternate cost). Sing Together lets multiple characters combine their costs to sing one song together.
Introduced in Winterspell (Set 11). On your very first turn of the game, if you are NOT the starting player, you pay 1 ink less to play this character. This compensates the second player's turn-order disadvantage.
The main competitive format. Players build 60-card decks using cards from currently legal sets (Sets 5–11 as of early 2026). Set rotation removes older sets approximately once per year. Core Constructed has its own Banned Cards list.
A non-rotating format where all cards from all sets are legal. No rotation, no set restrictions. Infinity maintains a separate banned list — currently empty. This is the format for legacy or casual players who want to use their full collection.
As of early 2026, Sets 5–11 are legal: Shimmering Skies (5), Azurite Sea (6), Archazia's Island (7), Reign of Jafar (8), Fabled (9), Whispers in the Well (10), and Winterspell (11). Sets 1–4 rotated out when Set 9 released in September 2025.
The next rotation is planned for when Set 13 releases (expected summer 2026). At that point, Sets 5–8 (Shimmering Skies through Reign of Jafar) will rotate out of Core Constructed, leaving Sets 9–13+ legal.
If a card is legal in a format, any physical printing of that card is also legal — including promo versions, alternate-art versions, and reprints from earlier sets. For example, if a Set 1 card was reprinted in Set 9 (Fabled Reprinted Favorites), the Set 1 copy is legal in Core Constructed.
As of September 2025: Hiram Flaversham – Toymaker and Forisphere are banned in Core Constructed due to degenerate game states and competitive balance issues. Infinity Constructed currently has no banned cards.
Eleven sets have been released through early 2026: The First Chapter (2023), Rise of the Floodborn, Into the Inklands, Ursula's Return, Shimmering Skies, Azurite Sea, Archazia's Island, Reign of Jafar, Fabled (Sep 2025), Whispers in the Well, and Winterspell (the current set).
Fabled introduced set rotation to the game for the first time, alongside 'Reprinted Favorites' — staple cards from Sets 1–4 reprinted with the same stats to keep them legal. It also brought the Shift ability notation update (now always shows the ink symbol).
Set 10 introduced the Alert and Boost keywords, the Stone by Day mechanic (Gargoyle trait), and new classifications including Gargoyle, Detective, Whisper, and Ghost. The 'Sensational Six' (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Pluto, Goofy) debuted as ink-type champions.
Winterspell introduced the Underdog keyword (helps the second player). It also came with a major Comprehensive Rules overhaul (v2.0): most notably, the empty-deck rule changed — you now only lose if you END your turn with no cards in your deck, allowing last-draw comebacks.
Floodborn are alternate-timeline versions of existing Disney characters — they represent those characters as they could have been in a different story. Floodborn cards typically have higher costs and stronger stats, and are often played via the Shift mechanic on top of a cheaper version of the same character.
